SUMMARY:Painter Johann Wenzel Bergl
DESCRIPTION:Lecture by Petr Arijčuk\, co-author of the exhibition The Way of the Cross from Orlice / Restoration 2010-2018 (14.2.2019 – 19.5.2019) \nStatus befor and after restoration © Museum Olmütz\nFrom Dvůr Králové nad Labem\, Johann Wenzel Bergl (1719-1789) belongs to one of the most appreciated painters of the Central European Baroque of the 18th century. He was particularly famous as the creator of decorative illusive shades with exotic landscape scenery. The quality of this artist is convincingly testified by the clients of his work. The most important and undoubtedly demanding customers were the Imperial Court in Vienna and the Lower Austrian monasteries of Benedictines and Cistercians (orders for Schönbrunn\, Hofburg\, Melk\, etc.). He also worked in Upper and Lower Hungary\, in Moravia\, and he also applied himself in his native region in eastern Bohemia. \nHere he was celebrated by three sets of paintings on the theme of the Crossroad (Dvůr Králové nad Labem\, Orlice\, Opočno).
